✺ Steps
1
Go for a walk

Collect flowers at their driest — avoid mornings when dew is still on them. Daisies, cowslip, vetch and clover all press beautifully.

2
Press between heavy books

Lay flowers between sheets of baking paper, then inside the heaviest books you own. Pile more books on top. Leave for 5–7 days.

3
Arrange on card

Cut card to A6. Lay out your arrangement — play around before gluing. The less perfect, the better.

4
Glue and seal

Dab a tiny amount of PVA on each flower using a cocktail stick. Press gently. Let dry for at least an hour, then add a coat of Mod Podge.

5
Write your message

Write inside with a fine felt-tip or a dip pen. Add a wax-sealed sticker on the envelope for full marks.

💡 Tips
Thinner flowers press better — avoid chunky centres like sunflowers for your first try.
Press more than you need — some will tear when you try to lift them.
A piece of baking paper under your card stops it sticking to the table.
